The
One-Minute
Aloe Vera Expert
Aloe
vera has been used medicinally and
nutritionally both externally and internally
for over 6,000 years. It is known for aiding
the health of skin (particularly burned or
bruised skin), stomach, immune system,
intestines, mouth and eyes, and for
many other uses. Most of the early internal
uses were as a laxative (outer rind). It's use as an immunomodulatory stimulant
(inner leaf gel) was not fully
appreciated until research was begun in that
area during the the late 20th century.
The leaf
is the valued part. It is generally divided
into the outer rind and the inner gel. The
outer rind contains Aloin, an addictive
laxative which is generally considered
unsafe and/or unwise. Early studies suggest
that Aloin may be helpful in the treatment
of cancer, but data is completely
insufficient, and such use is highly
discouraged. In general, any internal
consumption of any part of the rind is
highly discouraged
The part
of Aloe vera that stimulates the immune
system and contributes to healing and
nutritional supplementation is contained in
the inner leaf gel. This is an effective
agent when the leaf is freshly harvested,
but quickly loses it's value if not properly
processed within a very short time
after being cut from the root.
Immediate low-temperature freeze-dehydration seems to
be the only fully-effective non-toxic
preservation method. (Aloe vera
extracts that remain or are reconstituted in
liquid form must be "stabilized" with a toxic
substance to prevent microbial growth.)
The
component of the gel that is the effective
immunomodulatory stimulant (shifts the
immune system into high gear when more is
needed, dials it back when it is too active) is manna,
a.k.a mannose. The biologically active
mannose from Aloe has been named
"acemannan."
Acemannan content of the inner leaf gel of
live Aloe vera is dependent upon growing
conditions. Considerable research has been
done to produce Aloe vera plants that
contain the highest percentage of
bio-available acemannan. The processing and
preservation methods then become critical
for preserving the acemannan content in
biologically available form. Based on
current studies done by independent
laboratories, Lorand Laboratories is
currently the leader in both production and
preservation in their
BiAloeŽ
powder product.
To
suggest what
BiAloeŽ
may do for your health falls outside the
scope of this article, plus, every body has
it's own individual needs and responses. At
this point, I recommend that you try a
six-month supply for your own personal
testing and evaluation. Doing so is the only
practical way of becoming a true 'expert'
on what BiAloeŽ will do
for your health.
P. S.
One of our Study
Group members expressed disappointment that she did not have any
health epiphanies to report. She said:
"All I know is
that when I take it, I feel good, and when I don't take it I
don't feel as good."
Of all the varied
reports we have received, that one is my personal favorite. It
is the perfect one-sentence summary of the effect of consuming BiAloeŽ.
